Dragon Age, Fallout 3, even a good session of Dungeons & Dragons can confront players with decisions that have resounding consequences and moral/ethical concerns. Mass Effect 2 is a prime example, in which serious ethical dilemmas arise with no clear cut answer, only the vague idea that at some point, perhaps in ME3, your decisions will effect the world. Allow me to amend your statement. "Some" people love games that have clean cut rules and don't make them think. Then there are the rest of us. Those who like to play blindly, unthinkingly, can do what they have always been able to do, ignore a game's fiction and smash buttons.Jorge Alborhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04857765716032886965noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5706222432360428997.post-53641455042547288422011-01-06T17:26:34.982-05:002011-01-06T17:26:34.982-05:00My question is whether players will actually be in...My question is whether players will actually be interested in playing games that face them with a moral dilemma over whether to pull the trigger. After all, such situations are neither fun nor glorious. People love games that have clean cut rules that don't make them think. In any case, I'd love to see game design ascend to this level. It would be quite a feat to satisfy both morals and customers.Luzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02959999001855909939noreply@blogger.com
